Go Hotel Ansgar Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Go Hotel Ansgar on Colbjørnsensgade, you immediately get that “this feels right” vibe. It’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t try too hard — just solid, comfortable, and honestly pretty stylish for what you’re paying. The lobby has this clean Scandinavian thing going on without being sterile, and the staff actually seem happy to see you, which isn’t always a given in Copenhagen.
The Vesterbro Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Vesterbro — you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos around Nyhavn. The neighborhood has this great mix of locals grabbing coffee, vintage shops you’ll actually want to browse, and some seriously good restaurants within walking distance. Couples especially seem to get this location (they rate it 9.5, which honestly makes sense), probably because it feels more like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. You can walk to the central station in about ten minutes, but you’re also surrounded by the kind of cafés where Copenhageners actually hang out.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how Scandinavians are good at making small spaces feel functional rather than cramped. Everything you need is there: good Wi-Fi, a decent shower, and a bed that’s actually comfortable (not always guaranteed at this price point). The windows are big enough to let in plenty of light, which matters a lot during those shorter Danish winter days. It’s not fancy, but it’s the kind of place where you sleep well and don’t feel like you’re missing anything important.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is continental and buffet-style, which sounds basic but they do it right. Fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s substantial enough to get you going for a full day of walking around the city. The breakfast room gets good morning light, and there’s usually a nice mix of business travelers and tourists, so it feels lively without being chaotic.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Go Hotel Ansgar is that it delivers exactly what it promises — no more, no less. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable place to sleep in one of Copenhagen’s most livable neighborhoods, and that’s exactly what you get. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just numbers on a website; it reflects how easy it makes exploring the city feel. You can walk to Tivoli Gardens, catch trains to anywhere in Denmark, or just wander the local streets and stumble onto something interesting. It’s the kind of hotel that gets out of your way and lets Copenhagen be the star, which is honestly the best compliment I can give any place to stay.

What could be improved: Only disapointment was the hot buffet breakfast which wasnt hot.Anna from Poland – 6 March 2025 (9/10)
Very friendly staff, great location in a quiet neighbourhood, super close to the metro line, CPH main train station and Tivoli Gardens.
What could be improved: I wasn't aware that I will have to provide my credit card details for a 2000 DKK deposit. Good thing I read about it in one of their Google reviews and Revolut card was accepted, cause I didn't have a credit card with me while travelling. Debit card is not accepted.Sindri from Iceland – 6 March 2025 (8/10)

Natasha from United Kingdom – 4 March 2025 (8/10)
Amazing location – steps away from public transportation and so many sights and cafes and restaurants. Good sized rooms with lots of storage and nice shower.
What could be improved: The pillows were a little soft but otherwise, everything was perfect!!Bastiaan from Netherlands – 2 March 2025 (9/10)
Great location, very close to the station and with a metro station nearby
Friendly staff
Efficient (online) check in
Comfortable room, bed and bathroom
Quiet – I think I was lucky to be at the end of the hall, ask for room 207 🙂
What could be improved: I can’t really think of anything ..
maybe that the bike rental was quite expensive: much better to use Donkey Republic for this
