Hotel Ottilia Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Ottilia feels like discovering Copenhagen’s best-kept secret — which, honestly, it sort of is. This four-star gem sits in Vesterbro, and the moment you step through the doors, you get this sense that someone actually thought about every detail. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance that feels distinctly Danish without trying too hard. You know what I mean? It’s refined without being stuffy, and there’s something about the lighting that immediately puts you at ease.

Location & Neighborhood

Vesterbro is where you want to be if you’re looking to experience Copenhagen like a local rather than just another tourist. Hotel Ottilia sits perfectly positioned on Pasteursvej, and I can see why couples rate the location so highly — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets. You’re close enough to the city center that nothing feels out of reach, but far enough away that you escape the tourist crowds. The Meatpacking District is practically on your doorstep, which means some of the city’s best restaurants and bars are within walking distance. Actually, I found myself discovering new cafes and boutiques just by taking different routes back to the hotel each day.

The Room Experience

The rooms strike that perfect balance between Scandinavian minimalism and actual comfort — you won’t feel like you’re sleeping in a design museum. Large windows let in plenty of that precious Nordic light, and the beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses, so this matters). What impressed me most was the attention to small details — quality linens, thoughtful lighting options, and enough space to actually unpack without feeling cramped. The bathrooms are sleek without being cold, and honestly, the water pressure is better than what I have at home.

Breakfast & Dining

Here’s where Hotel Ottilia really shines — the breakfast spread is impressive without being overwhelming. They’ve clearly put thought into accommodating different dietary needs, with solid continental options alongside vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices that actually taste good (not just afterthoughts). The buffet setup flows well, so you’re not bumping into other guests, and there’s usually a nice mix of locals and travelers creating this relaxed morning atmosphere. I mean, starting your day with proper Danish pastries and strong coffee while planning your Copenhagen adventures? It sets the right tone.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to Hotel Ottilia is how it manages to feel both polished and approachable. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests discover Copenhagen — they’ll point you toward hidden gems rather than just the obvious tourist spots. The hotel attracts travelers who appreciate good design and service without needing everything to be flashy or over-the-top. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable whether you’re dressed up for dinner or just wandering back from exploring the city in your walking shoes. Plus, that 8.8 rating isn’t just numbers — you can feel it in how smoothly everything runs and how relaxed everyone seems to be.

The hotel was beautiful and had everything we needed. The breakfast was also amazing! The location was the only slight downside but we knew that when booking, we did end up going back and forth on the train or metro a lot.

  • Lindy from France – 15 April 2025 (9/10)

Everything was excellent, staff, organic breakfast, happy hours free of charge for wine at 17h and spirits at 10h.
We had a really big kingsize bed (not 2 singles) and a large room with lovely walk-in shower
