Hotel Sanders Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Sanders feels like stepping into someone’s incredibly stylish home — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and unlimited resources. This five-star boutique property sits right on Tordenskjoldsgade, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. You’re literally in the heart of Copenhagen, with Nyhavn’s colorful houses just a few minutes’ walk away. The lobby has this warm, residential feel that immediately sets it apart from those sterile luxury chains you know too well.

The Perfect Copenhagen Address

I mean, couples absolutely rave about this spot for good reason — they’ve given the location a 9.8 rating, which is pretty much unheard of. You can walk to Kongens Nytorv in about three minutes, and the Royal Theatre is practically next door. What I love is how you’re close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away on a quieter street so you’re not dealing with constant tourist crowds right outside your window. The Strøget shopping district is right there when you want it, but you can actually get some peace when you retreat back to the hotel.

The Room Experience

The rooms here are something else entirely — they’ve managed to create spaces that feel both sophisticated and genuinely comfortable. Each room has these beautiful custom furnishings and artwork that actually means something, not just generic hotel decor. The bathrooms are particularly impressive, with marble details and rainfall showers that make you want to linger. What really gets me is the attention to lighting — they’ve clearly thought about how a space should feel at different times of day, which sounds small but makes a huge difference when you’re trying to unwind after walking around the city all day.

Dining and Social Spaces

The breakfast situation is actually worth getting up for, which I don’t say lightly. They do both continental and buffet options, but it’s the quality that sets it apart — proper Danish pastries, excellent coffee, and local specialties that give you a real taste of Copenhagen. The hotel’s restaurant has become a destination in its own right, drawing locals alongside hotel guests. There’s something special about staying somewhere that the people who actually live in the city choose to visit — it tells you they’re doing something right beyond just catering to tourists.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Copenhagen has plenty of luxury hotels, but Sanders manages to capture something that feels authentically Danish while still delivering all the high-end touches you’d expect from a five-star property. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable, and the whole place has this effortless elegance that never feels stuffy or pretentious. When you’re paying premium prices, you want to feel like you’re experiencing something special — not just a nice room with good thread count sheets. This place delivers that feeling in spades, which explains why it consistently earns such high ratings from guests who’ve seen their fair share of luxury hotels.

Reviews of Hotel Sanders

  • John from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Thought breakfast buffet could have been significantly better with more fruit /alternative breads/yogurts I didn’t think the tea or coffee was v good either.

  • Brent from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (8/10)

Location is great. Staff very helpful.

What could be improved: The waitress at the rooftop bar seemed overwhelmed and perhaps needed more support from colleagues.

  • Eleonore from United Kingdom – 27 March 2025 (8/10)

Beautiful crowd, very comfortable and beautiful setting.

What could be improved: We were unlucky in getting a first-floor bedroom facing a small courtyard. It lacked light during the day and felt pretty oppressive.

  • Buster from Sweden – 24 March 2025 (9/10)

Cozy environment, spacious and beautiful room and charming staff. Good breakfast, eggs royale, a delicious juicy Caesar salad for lunch. Lively bar with lovely drinks and good service. Bicycles are available to borrow for a cheap fee. The hotel has a homely and elegant lobby and outdoor seating for drinks. Oyster bar. Costs a little more than average but really worth the money.

What could be improved: Poor Wifi
