Motel One Copenhagen Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Motel One Copenhagen, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical Danish hotel experience — and I mean that in the best way possible. The lobby hits you with this sleek, modern design that feels more Berlin than Copenhagen, but somehow it works perfectly here on Løngangstræde. It’s a four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which honestly makes it more impressive. The staff greets you with that effortless Scandinavian friendliness, and you can tell right away this place gets a lot of repeat visitors.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally in the heart of everything, but tucked away on a quieter street that locals actually know about. Løngangstræde puts you within walking distance of Nyhavn (those colorful houses everyone photographs), but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos right outside your door. The Strøget shopping district is maybe five minutes away, and I’ve found some of Copenhagen’s best coffee shops just around the corner. You know what’s really convenient? The metro connection is super close, so getting to and from the airport is actually painless.

The Room Experience

The room design follows that same minimalist-but-warm aesthetic — think clean lines with pops of color that don’t feel sterile. I was surprised by how much natural light floods in, even during those shorter Danish winter days. The bed is genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and they’ve thought through the little things like having enough outlets near the desk and good reading lights. The bathroom is compact but well-designed, with a rainfall shower that actually has decent water pressure — something you can’t always count on in European city hotels.

Dining and Social Spaces

The bar area downstairs becomes this really nice social hub in the evenings, and I’ve noticed it attracts both hotel guests and locals, which is always a good sign. They serve decent cocktails and have a solid selection of Danish beers if you want to try something regional. The restaurant keeps things simple but does it well — nothing fancy, just good food that hits the spot after a day of walking around the city. Breakfast is that typical Scandinavian spread with quality ingredients, though it’s not included in the rate, which is pretty standard for Copenhagen hotels these days.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it balances being in the thick of things without feeling overwhelming. Couples seem to particularly love it here — probably because you can easily walk to romantic dinner spots, but you’re not staying somewhere that feels like a tourist factory. The neighborhood has this authentic Copenhagen vibe where you’ll see more locals than tour groups, especially in the evenings. Plus, the hotel’s reputation for cleanliness and reliable service means you’re not gambling on your stay. It’s the kind of place where everything just works smoothly, which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re trying to enjoy a city like Copenhagen.

Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Copenhagen before cherry blossoms paint Bispebjerg Cemetery and lakeside paths.

Reviews of Motel One Copenhagen

  • Nuria from United States – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Keyless entry was not working so someone had to open the door for us everytime

  • Alastair from United Kingdom – 12 April 2025 (8/10)

great location and all staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast with plenty of options.

What could be improved: Small bathroom

  • Stephen from United Kingdom – 8 April 2025 (9/10)

Whilst the room was small it perfectly meet my needs in that it had a wonderfully comfy bed. A decent sized clothes rail with hangers. The shower room was again small, however it contained a large, powerful shower. The staff on reception were very polite and well-mannered. They arranged a taxi for me as and when needed. Finally, the hotel is situated in a perfect, central location.

What could be improved: There was nothing in particular that I would go as far to say that I didn't like. In fact, if were to stay in Copenhagen again, I would probably look to book here again.

  • Karin from Australia – 8 April 2025 (9/10)

Hotel was central to rail station and shopping district. Was able to check in early and leave luggage at reception prior to departure. Breakfast was good.

  • Carole from Australia – 6 April 2025 (8/10)

The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in! Wonderful breakfast and great location.

  • Ezra from Netherlands – 6 April 2025 (9/10)

Very clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.

  • Lajoya from United States – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

Great location. Tiny room (to be expected), but comfortable bed and nice facility. Would stay here again.

  • Megan from United Kingdom – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

Th location was central and easy to find. The breakfast was glorious! The staff were all very helpful & friendly.

  • Rebekah from United Kingdom – 4 April 2025 (9/10)

Very friendly and helpful staff, smiley, accommodating and clearly enjoying their jobs! The bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. Right in the centre, so near to all attractions and for us, places to visit for work. Great value for money too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time I'm in Copenhagen.

What could be improved: Doors were thin so noise in the corridor at night kept me awake.

  • Lilian from Ireland – 4 April 2025 (7/10)

I loved the location was so close to evertything.

What could be improved: The fact there was no television channels was a negative or no tea or coffee making facilities in the room was not good.
