Babette Guldsmeden Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Babette Guldsmeden on Bredgade, you immediately get that “I found something special” feeling. This four-star boutique hotel sits on one of Copenhagen’s most elegant streets, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has this understated Danish charm — not flashy, but you know quality when you see it. I mean, when couples consistently rate the location 9.3 out of 10, there’s definitely something going on here.
The Neighborhood
Bredgade is actually one of those streets that locals love but tourists often stumble upon by accident. You’re walking distance from Amalienborg Palace (where the royal family lives), and the whole area has this refined, residential vibe that feels authentically Copenhagen. The street itself is lined with antique shops, art galleries, and those cozy cafés that Danes do so well. You know what’s great? You can easily walk to Nyhavn for the tourist photos, but you’re staying somewhere that feels like the real deal.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that signature Guldsmeden style — think organic materials, earth tones, and furniture that actually looks comfortable rather than just Instagram-worthy. The beds are genuinely good (and I’m picky about mattresses), with crisp white linens that feel expensive. What struck me was how quiet everything was, despite being on a busy street. The windows are solid, and you get that peaceful sleep that’s sometimes hard to find in city center hotels. The attention to detail throughout the space reflects the hotel’s commitment to guest comfort and relaxation.
Dining and Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is where this place really shows its Danish roots. Sure, you’ll find the usual hotel breakfast suspects, but they also do proper Danish pastries, good coffee, and local touches that make the morning feel special rather than rushed. The breakfast room gets nice natural light, and there’s something about starting your day there that sets the right tone for exploring Copenhagen. It’s not fancy, but it’s done well — which is very Danish, actually. The hotel also features an excellent on-site restaurant that showcases Nordic cuisine and local ingredients.
Why Guests Love It
Look, with an 8.5 rating and that 9.4 location score, guests clearly get what makes Babette Guldsmeden work. It’s not trying to be the biggest or flashiest hotel in town — it’s just doing everything right in a neighborhood that feels like authentic Copenhagen. The staff knows the area well (always a good sign), and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the tourist highlights and the local gems. For couples especially, there’s something about this spot that just clicks — maybe it’s the romantic neighborhood, or maybe it’s just that feeling of discovering a place that gets Copenhagen right. The hotel’s dedication to quality and authentic Danish hospitality makes it a standout choice for discerning travelers.

What an enjoyable stay at Hotel Babette Guldsmeden…the staff were so friendly and able to provide good information on anything we asked, the accommodation was superb, and the location was perfect with an amazing view!
What could be improved: We loved everything about our stay!Roberts from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
Lovely hotel and super friendly team working there. Fantastic location, a short walk from the nearest metro station. The room was clean and tidy with a nice ensuite, even if both were a little small.
Unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working in the spa on a couple of the days, and the opening times were a little restrictive. The tea/coffee provided in the rooms could’ve been a bit more generous considering the cost.Alisa from United Kingdom – 14 April 2025 (9/10)
Very good location – close to the Little Mermaid ( maybe 10 min walk) and then another 15 min walk to city centre
Very friendly staff – so helpful

Gorgeous big bed. Room furnishings. Felt more like a cool apartment than a hotel room which we loved. Great location.

Beautifully decorated, suite and double room were gorgeous! Lovely touches and very nice toiletries. Good eco credentials and information. The staff were lovely, efficient and helpful. Good location. The rooftop spa is a lovely touch, amazing views! Delicious food & good drinks.
What could be improved: Nothing…wished we had checked out the rooftop bar the evening we arrived as would have loved to use the “igloo” complete with fab views and heated loungers!
