Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about the Amager Vest location — it’s close enough to central Copenhagen that you’re not spending half your day commuting, but far enough out that you get a more authentic feel for how locals actually live. The area around Gullfossgade has this nice residential vibe with cafes and shops that aren’t just tourist traps. You know what’s particularly great? Couples seem to really appreciate this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these quieter streets in the evening before heading back to your room. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of contemporary Danish living.

What sets this place apart is the attention to sustainable design without being preachy about it. The Guldsmeden group has this philosophy about organic materials and eco-friendly practices, but they don’t hit you over the head with it — it just feels naturally integrated into everything. The common areas have this cozy, almost residential quality that makes you want to linger with a coffee or glass of wine. Actually, I found myself spending more time in the lobby area than I usually would at hotels, just because it felt so comfortable and inviting.

The breakfast buffet here is solid — not groundbreaking, but definitely above average for what you’d expect. They focus on quality ingredients and local suppliers, which you can taste in everything from the bread to the preserves. I particularly appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with options just for the sake of variety. Sometimes less really is more, and they seem to understand that philosophy well. Plus, the breakfast area gets lovely morning light, which honestly makes even mediocre coffee taste better. The attention to detail in sourcing extends to every element of the morning experience.

  Arrived early to Copenhagen and left our bags at the hotel as we explored Copenhagen.
  Loved everything about the hotel. Especially the environmental aspects from rubbish through to all the little bits in the rooms and shared spaces on each level.
  Beds super comfortable. We had a 2 bed suite which was great with two teenagers.
  We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was delicious! And breakfast was amazing.

  Was one if the best hotels we have stayed in. Great room, really welcoming and lovely decor. Comfy bed. The sauna, pool and cold plunge tub were well used and a great experience. In a great area of Copenhagen. In easy walking distance of lovely bakeries and the docks, perfect for a cold swim!
