Ibsens Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Ibsens Hotel on Vendersgade, you immediately get the sense this place knows what it’s doing. It’s one of those three-star hotels that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just solid, well-thought-out hospitality in the heart of Copenhagen. The building has that understated Danish charm, and honestly, the location hit me right away. You’re basically in the thick of things without feeling like you’re camping out in Times Square, if you know what I mean.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can actually walk everywhere that matters. The lakes are just a few minutes away, which locals will tell you is where Copenhagen really shines, especially in summer when people are out jogging and picnicking. Nørrebro is right there too, and that’s where you’ll find the city’s best coffee shops and vintage stores. I mean, tourists often miss this area completely, but it’s got this authentic vibe that the more central spots sometimes lack. Plus, having private parking at the hotel is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving — most places in Copenhagen will charge you an arm and a leg for that.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Danish hotel — clean lines, functional design, and everything you need without unnecessary frills. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in European hotels, let’s be honest), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. What struck me most was how quiet everything was, despite being on a fairly busy street. They’ve clearly invested in proper windows and insulation, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here feel particularly Danish — there’s this calm efficiency to everything. The breakfast setup isn’t elaborate, but it covers all the basics well, and the coffee is strong enough to get you moving. The staff seems to genuinely know the city, not just the tourist highlights. When I asked about getting to Christianshavn, the front desk person gave me this whole spiel about which bridge to take for the best views — that kind of local insight you can’t get from a guidebook. The lobby area works well as a meeting spot too, if you’re coordinating with travel companions.
Why Guests Love It
Look, couples especially seem to get what this place is about — there’s something romantic about being tucked into a residential neighborhood while still being walking distance from everything. The 9.6 location rating from couples isn’t just about convenience; it’s about feeling like you’re experiencing Copenhagen the way locals do. You’ll end up discovering little cafes and shops just by wandering around the area, and that’s honestly worth more than being right next to the main tourist drags. It’s the kind of place where you feel settled rather than just passing through, which makes all the difference on a trip where you actually want to relax.
Copenhagen hotels keep guests near Michelin dining rooms, design museums, and electric harbor ferries.

We stayed here for sightseeing, it was within walking distance to all of the churches and castles. The crew was very friendly and the room was very clean. We ate breakfast at the hotel, which was a large and delicious buffet. When you book a small room, it is going to be small especially the bathroom. Overall the hotel was amazing, it was clean, had a comfortable bed and soft towels. That's what is most important to me.

A beautifully clean and stylish hotel, just a 5-minute walk from the metro and city center! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the room was immaculate.

The staff were friendly and kind. The location was perfect and right near Nørreport Metro and train station. We had a top floor room which was cozy but spacious. Room and hotel was clean and the cozy hour was a lovely touch.
What could be improved: Only one elevator but stairs were accessible so this had no affect on our stay.Kim from Australia – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

Lots and lots to like about this hotel – room was lovely and the breakfast and the staff were really first class. Hotel was near Norreport Metro station and so was very well connected. Can't say there was anything we disliked and will definitely definitely be back. Thank you for a great visit.
