New Harbor – Carolinas Apartment Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to New Harbor – Carolinas Apartment on Nyhavn feels like stepping into one of those Copenhagen postcards you see everywhere — except you’re actually staying right in the middle of it all. The colorful 17th-century townhouses lining the canal create this almost fairy-tale backdrop, and honestly, I wasn’t prepared for how charming it would be in person. This four-star property sits at number 23, which puts you smack in the heart of the action without being overwhelmed by tourist crowds (well, most of the time anyway).

The Nyhavn Magic

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally living on Copenhagen’s most famous street, but it doesn’t feel touristy once you’re inside. The location score of 9.7 makes perfect sense when you realize you can walk to Amalienborg Palace in about five minutes, and the Little Mermaid statue is just a pleasant stroll along the harbor. I mean, couples absolutely love this spot — they’ve rated it 9.5 for romantic getaways, and after spending time here, I totally get why. There’s something magical about having your morning coffee while watching the old sailing ships bob in the canal right outside your window.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment itself strikes that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that Copenhagen does so well. You’ll find thoughtful touches throughout — the kind of details that show someone actually cares about your stay rather than just checking boxes. The space feels authentically Danish without being overly designed, if that makes sense. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, despite being right on Nyhavn (the thick walls of these old buildings are no joke).

Getting Around Copenhagen

Here’s where the location really shines — you’re within walking distance of pretty much everything worth seeing in central Copenhagen. Strøget, the famous pedestrian shopping street, is maybe a ten-minute walk, and you can easily reach Tivoli Gardens or the Latin Quarter on foot. The metro station at Kongens Nytorv is right there too, so day trips to places like Malmö in Sweden become totally doable. Actually, I found myself using public transport way less than expected because so much is just walkable from here.

Why Guests Love It

With an 8.9 rating, New Harbor – Carolinas Apartment clearly hits the mark for most visitors, and I can see why. It’s that rare combination of prime location, authentic character, and genuine comfort that’s hard to find in Copenhagen’s city center. You’re not just staying near the famous sights — you’re living among them, but in a way that feels natural rather than staged. The fact that couples consistently rave about the romantic atmosphere tells you everything you need to know about the vibe here. Plus, there’s something pretty special about ending your day with a glass of wine while watching the sunset reflect off those colorful buildings across the canal.

Hotels near me in Copenhagen deliver five-minute metro hops, cowork lofts, and waterfront promenades lined with coffee stands.

-smaller bathroom but enough for basics

  • Maria from Greece – 3 January 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: There were broken glasses at the property entrance and I got hurt opening the key box.

  • Angela from United Kingdom – 8 December 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent location

What could be improved: Too noisy at night especially when the apartment below decided to have a party into the early hours of the morning.
There wasn’t much hot water and the bathroom was small and dark.
The front door didn’t lock and the communal staircase was very dirty and ready for a lick of paint

  • Margaret from United Kingdom – 21 October 2024 (9/10)

Very nicely furnished and comfortable. Lovely coffee maker with pods left for us
    A great shower too

  • Jack from United Kingdom – 8 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location, really central with a great view over the harbour. Lovely original building features and interior decoration.

What could be improved: The check out at 10am was a little on the early side.

  • Michelle from United States – 5 September 2024 (9/10)

Loved the location! The view out of the front living room was amazing!

What could be improved: It would have been good to provide some pillows and bedding without down feathers in it. One of our friends is allergic to down so she had to use the sofa pillow and the non down bedspread ( not comforter) at night.

  • Susan from United States – 23 July 2024 (9/10)

The location had the best view of the prettiest canal in Copenhagen, and so easy to walk everywhere from here, including a metro stop at Kings Square (Kongens) just up the street. There are 2 bedrooms and a spacious living room, dining room and kitchen. So nice to stay in a place with so much space. Opened the windows to get nice breezes, as the day was warm. Carolina was very easy to communicate with and very nice. There were outlets by the beds, plenty of hangers, a washer and drying rack that we used to wash/dry our clothes. And she provided coffee and tea as well.

What could be improved: Can't think of anything.

  • Katherine from New Zealand – 30 June 2024 (9/10)

Very clean, beautifully comfortable beds and perfect location

What could be improved: Good idea to take ear plugs as it’s definitely a hot spot for night life.
If was very hot inside the apartment maybe another fan would have been great.

  • Faith from United Kingdom – 30 May 2024 (9/10)

The location is perfect. It’s spacious, light and airy and the beds are super comfy. The hostess went above and beyond to make us welcome. Amazing experience from booking and we didn’t want to leave!

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Genelle from Australia – 14 April 2024 (9/10)

Lovely clean and spacious apartment, amazing location on the canal, bars and restaurants below, central to everything.

What could be improved: Bathroom was a bit small
