Scandic Sluseholmen Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Scandic Sluseholmen, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Copenhagen hotel. The four-star property sits on what used to be an industrial island in Sydhavnen, and honestly, that transformation story is written into every corner of the building. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the place — it feels modern and polished without trying too hard to impress. The lobby has this clean Scandinavian aesthetic that actually feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I really appreciated after a long day of travel.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about Sluseholmen — you’re technically outside central Copenhagen, but it doesn’t feel remote at all. The area has this fascinating mix of converted warehouses and sleek new developments, and you know what? Couples seem to get it more than anyone (they consistently rate the location 8.0, which makes total sense). You can walk along the waterfront canals that feel almost Amsterdam-like, and the metro connection gets you into the city center in about 15 minutes. Plus, having private parking here is actually a big deal — anyone who’s tried to park in Copenhagen proper will tell you that.
The Room Experience
The rooms strike that perfect Scandic balance of functional and comfortable. I mean, you’re not getting palace-level opulence, but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are genuinely good (that Scandinavian attention to sleep quality), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping elbows with your travel companion. What impressed me most was the attention to sound — despite being near the water and transit lines, the rooms stay remarkably quiet. The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but even the less scenic ones look out onto interesting architecture rather than blank walls.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here actually surprised me in the best way. Sure, it’s a buffet — but they’ve clearly put thought into covering different dietary needs without making it feel like an afterthought. The continental spread hits all the Danish classics, but they also do proper vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that don’t look sad and forgotten in a corner. I watched them restock the fresh items regularly, which tells you something about how they run things. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up properly for a day of Copenhagen exploring without feeling overly heavy.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that earns repeat visitors, and Scandic Sluseholmen clearly does that better than most places. I think it comes down to reliability — this isn’t a hotel that’s going to blow your mind with unexpected amenities, but it’s going to deliver exactly what it promises every single time. The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than just polite, the location offers that sweet spot of accessibility without tourist chaos, and the whole experience feels authentically Copenhagen rather than generically international. For travelers who want to feel like they’re staying somewhere with character while still having modern comforts, it really works.
To book hotel in Copenhagen for summer harbor baths, travelers secure Nyhavn-view suites draped in pastel facades.

Reviews of Scandic Sluseholmen
Samantha from United Kingdom – 28 March 2025 (9/10)
Scandic is Like the UK premier Inn as in It does what it needs to do, standard room, clean, comfortable bed and there is one on every corner. Saying that the reception, bar and restaurant is that of a nicer hotel. We were really impressed by the service and how friendly everyone was but that was Coppenhagen all round!! Really easy to get into the main town as it is so close to the metro and also bus stops outside. Would definitely recommend. 😊
What could be improved: Disappointing that the restaurant wasn't open on an evening. However there is a great Pizza takeaway close by called Otto's which was good!Per from United Kingdom – 24 March 2025 (7/10)

The location and breakfast was lovely. Free car park is also a plus.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, for breakfast you need to book a time slot. We booked it for 8am for the next day and our name wasn’t on the list. We were lucky that breakfast wasn’t too busy.Reddy from United Kingdom – 1 November 2024 (8/10)
