Carolinas Apartment – RAP 5 Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Carolinas Apartment – RAP 5 on Vestergade, you’ll immediately notice you’re not dealing with a typical hotel setup. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Copenhagen’s historic center, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that classic Danish charm you see throughout the old city, but what really struck me was how quiet it felt despite being so centrally located. You know what I mean — sometimes these downtown spots can feel chaotic, but there’s something genuinely peaceful about this particular stretch of Vestergade.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying on Vestergade — you’re literally steps away from everything that matters in Copenhagen. I mean, Strøget (the famous pedestrian shopping street) is practically around the corner, and you can walk to Nyhavn’s colorful houses in about ten minutes. What I really appreciated, though, was how the location puts you in the middle of the action without feeling touristy. The street has this authentic Copenhagen vibe where you’ll see locals heading to work in the morning and couples strolling to dinner in the evening. Actually, that makes sense given how highly couples rate this place — there’s something romantic about the whole area, especially when the evening light hits those old facades.
The Apartment Experience
The apartment itself feels more like staying in a well-appointed Copenhagen flat than a hotel room, which is exactly what you want from this type of accommodation. The space is thoughtfully designed with that Scandinavian aesthetic — clean lines, natural materials, and plenty of light streaming through the windows. What really works here is the attention to practical details; the kitchen is actually functional (not just decorative), and there’s enough space to spread out and feel at home. I found myself making morning coffee and planning the day from the dining area, which honestly beats rushing down to a hotel lobby every time you need something.
Living Like a Local
This is where Carolinas Apartment – RAP 5 really shines — it gives you that authentic Copenhagen living experience. Having a proper kitchen means you can pop into the local markets (there’s a great one nearby) and actually cook with Danish ingredients if you’re into that sort of thing. The neighborhood has excellent bakeries and cafes within a two-minute walk, so you’re not stuck with hotel breakfast if you want something different. Plus, there’s something satisfying about coming back to your own space after a day of sightseeing, rather than a generic hotel room.
Why Guests Love It
The combination of that prime location (guests consistently rate it 9.7 out of 10) and the apartment-style setup creates something special here. You get the independence and space of having your own place, but with the reliability and service standards of a four-star property. For couples especially, it offers that perfect balance — intimate enough for romantic evenings in, but positioned perfectly for exploring the city together. The fact that recent guests keep raving about the location tells you everything you need to know; when you’re this well-positioned in Copenhagen, you spend less time commuting and more time actually enjoying the city.
Copenhagen’s apartments welcome families with stroller-friendly courtyards, playrooms, and quick S-train links.

Reviews of Carolinas Apartment – RAP 5

The property was located right in the middle of the city and only a few mins walk to the train station and Tivoli gardens.
The rooms are spacious and clean.
We were a party of 9 and all had plenty of space.
What could be improved: We were short on plates and mugs as there was 9 of us and only settings for 7.
The roof terrace floor needs to be painted with a non split paint as it’s really slippy when wet. However, I can’t imagine many people using it during the winter. We only used it for the fireworks at new year.Kevin from United Kingdom – 16 September 2024 (7/10)
Huge apartment in great location close to a number of restaurants and bars. This would really suit a large family or group of friends. It has a roof terrace which is a real
bonus subject to weather. Despite negatives I would recommend for any large family/groups.
What could be improved: Be warned (and they do warn you) access is via stairs to 3rd floor. Lugging a heavy suitcase up these stairs is quite a challenge. There is a nightclub nearby which didn’t bother me but disturbed my wife and daughter. The decor is tired and there was a musty sewage smell from bathroom. Kitchen was well kitted out but coffee machine was leaking. There are mugs but difficult to find. Toiletries could be of better quality.Lesley from United Kingdom – 17 April 2024 (9/10)
Location couldn't have been better – handy for all the main attractions, shops and supermarket and for the metro which made access to the railway station and airport easy. Everything was clean and we had plenty of space for our group. Lovely to have the outside space on the terrace, although we weren't lucky enough to have the weather to make use of it. We had problems accessing the wifi to start with, but the owners addressed this quickly and gave us alternative log in details which worked fine, even for work meetings etc. The whole apartment was warm and quiet, despite it's very central location.
What could be improved: The bathrooms are basically wetrooms, as it's imossible to have a shower without soaking the whole floor – bring slippers if you don't want your socks soaked multiple times a day! Apartment is on the top floor with no lift, which is tricky with heavy luggage, but great once you're up there. As a few have mentioned, one bedroom doesn't have curtains or blinds, which is quite strange as there are buildings directly opposite! Some in our group found the beds too soft, and some (me!) thought they were very comfortable – personal preference i guess – but bedding was lovely. Finally, we all missed having a comfortable seating area on the main level of the apartment and all ended up just sitting around the dining table in the evenings, which wasn't the most relaxing.Hendrik from Germany – 4 April 2024 (9/10)
The apartment was amazing. Everything we possibly could need, was thought of. It is situated in a busy neighborhood but it was perfect for our family. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to visit.
Baden from United Kingdom – 17 March 2023 (7/10)
Beds were comfortable, and sheets were clean.
Bathrooms were clean and well equipped. Kitchen had all we needed.
Close to Metro.
Overall, the accommodation suited our purpose of exploring Copenhagen.
What could be improved: The lounge area was too small for 7 guests and up a steep staircase. Hence, we didn't use it at all and instead sat around the dining table. Space is not used to its best advantage in this flat.
Bedspreads had not been washed between guests. We didn't use them.
No blind or curtain in the front bedroom seemed strange, especially with a cot in the room. An infant would have likely woken very early due to the light. We had to make a window covering from a blanket to try and block out the light.
It is a very noisy spot on the weekend as various clubs in the street. A great place for a party group though!Ian from United Kingdom – 17 February 2023 (9/10)
A modern clean apartment in a good location. It has all the appliances you need other than a microwave, and includes kettle and Nespresso coffee percolator. The large TV in the lounge has Netflix. Very comfortable beds but could do with extra pillows. The contact for the apartment was very helpful. It has two shower rooms each with a toilet.
What could be improved: The apartment is up several flights of stairs on the top floor without a lift. One bedroom has no curtains or blind.Marcus from Sweden – 16 January 2023 (9/10)
