Hotel Danmark Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Danmark on Vester Voldgade, you immediately get that “this is exactly where I want to be” feeling. The four-star property sits right in the heart of Copenhagen, and I mean really in the heart — you’re basically steps away from everything that matters. The building itself has that classic Danish charm without trying too hard, and honestly, the location alone makes you feel like you’ve made the right choice before you even check in.

Prime Copenhagen Position

Here’s what I love about staying at Hotel Danmark — you can walk to Tivoli Gardens in about three minutes, and the Central Station is right there too. But it’s not just about the big attractions. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of locals heading to work and tourists figuring out their day, which gives you that authentic Copenhagen vibe. Couples especially seem to get it (they rate the location 9.6, which honestly makes total sense when you’re wandering these streets together). You know what’s great? You can actually leave your car in their private parking and just walk everywhere — rare for a city center hotel.

The Room Experience

The rooms strike that sweet spot between Danish minimalism and actual comfort. I mean, you get clean lines and thoughtful design, but they haven’t forgotten that you need places to put your stuff and a bed that actually works for sleeping. The windows are generous — important in a city where you want to catch every bit of that Nordic light. It’s refined without being stuffy, and the details feel intentional rather than just thrown together by some corporate design team.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast here is where Hotel Danmark really shows it gets modern travelers. They’ve got the buffet setup down to a science, but what impressed me is how they handle dietary restrictions — vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. You can tell they’ve actually thought about this stuff instead of just checking boxes. The morning crowd is this nice mix of business travelers and couples planning their day, and there’s enough space that it doesn’t feel like you’re fighting for a table.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Copenhagen isn’t cheap, but Hotel Danmark delivers on what you’re actually paying for — that unbeatable location that lets you experience the city on foot. Recent guests keep raving about the location (9.6 rating doesn’t lie), and after spending time here, I get why. You’re not just staying somewhere convenient; you’re staying somewhere that makes Copenhagen feel accessible and manageable. The staff seems to understand that most people are here to explore the city, not hang out in the hotel lobby, so they focus on making your base comfortable and your departure smooth. It’s that kind of thoughtful approach that makes you want to book the same place next time you’re in town.

Location, location, very central to get to know the sites walking and very close to Tivoli Gardens and central train station and the main shopping street, as well.
Happy hours with drinks and music at the hotel lounge!
Very healthy and delicious products for a very tasty breakfast!

  • Doug from Australia – 26 March 2025 (7/10)

Fabulous breakfast and location. Always a warm welcome.

What could be improved: The fitness facilities were so limited and in demand with other guests that I could not use them – and this was the reason I chose the hotel. I could not adjust the room temperature and did not sleep well as it was very hot.

  • Noriko from United States – 25 March 2025 (8/10)

    Conveniently located

What could be improved: All was okay. Elevator was small and busy during rush hour

  • Ana from United Kingdom – 21 March 2025 (8/10)

    Centrally located

What could be improved: Protruding bed poles can be a hazard in the dark

  • Kerry from United Kingdom – 17 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Tea and coffee being more or topped up every day

  • Eileen from United Kingdom – 11 March 2025 (9/10)

    Bed was comfortable
    Room was v clean
Free wine and night cap hours
    Friendly and helpful reception staff
    Roof top bar and views
    Location
Hand cream and body lotion also supplied

What could be improved: The black bed frame in our room 304 is too large for the small room and dangerous in the dark being bIack I banged my head on it

  • Paul from United Kingdom – 6 March 2025 (9/10)

Copenhagen is beautiful. Hotel Danmark is in a good central location. Rooms comfy. Staff are so good. Very helpful. Very generous…..particularly when pouring the "on the house" drinks in reception between 2200-2300 hrs. Breakfast choices were many, and of high quality.
Also, it was my partners Birthday whilst we were there. With literally 2 mins notice, a gaggle of the restaurant staff were at our table, singing, with a cake and candles to boot. It was a very nice touch. Thank You

  • Jon from United Kingdom – 5 March 2025 (9/10)

Not that the wine happy hour is the main (only) reason to stay here bit it certainly is a nice touch and very sociable! Stayed here several times and doesn't disappoint. The ambience and feel of the hotel is very pleasant and the staff are really friendly and helpful. I like the breakfast here as the way they serve it gives it an individual feel that oozes attention and care. Its a charming place and very close to the main square in the centre of the CPH; rooms are generally quiet at night and although on the small side they are plenty for a lone traveler.

What could be improved: Nothing, all good.
